New Moon Rising

(To the tune “Bad Moon Rising”, John Fogerty, 1969.)

I see a new moon arisin’
I see a comet on the way
I see a thousand stars are shining
I see the sky all new today

Come on out tonight – it’s bound to be a sight
There’s a new moon on the rise

I see galaxies aglowin’
I know when Neptune first was viewed
I read Mars once had rivers flowing
I feel Pluto sure got screwed

Well… come on out tonight – it’s bound to be a sight
There’s a new moon on the rise

Hope you found your way to boot camp
Hope you came quite prepared to stay
Cuz it looks like there’s way more to astronomy
Than any 3-verse song could ever say

Come on out tonight – it’s bound to be a sight
There’s a new moon on the rise

Come on out tonight – it’s bound to be a sight
There’s a new moon on the rise
