Lacking any spark of creativity during my morning writing sessions this week, I turn to list-making. At least I end up with something on the page. Stealing from the Boston Globe’s “Sidekick” section, I shuffle my iPod and note the first ten songs that come up:
1. February Sun – Manu Katche
2. Patience – Catie Curtis
3. When the Hangover Strikes – Squeeze
4. Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting – Elton John
5. Too Many – Al Green
6. Burning Down the House – Talking Heads
7. Driven to Tears – The Police
8. You and Me in a Rowboat to Rio – Eddie from Ohio
9. Doing the Unstuck – The Cure
10. Sometimes – Michael Franti
Looking at these, I notice (though delayed) a pattern, a theme, something that ties them together for me. And I imagine there’s a story to be told from them. Perhaps now I have something to write.
