an apple a day…

… keeps dull-mindedness away.

In two separate places today, I came across the word “bildungsroman”. The first time I passed it by, much like some of the students in my ESL book group do when we’re reading a story. I figured I could live without knowing what it meant. But when it popped up a second time in the same day, I had to pay attention. And I had to look it up. In case it’s new for you too…

bildungsroman – from the German bildung (education) and roman (novel). A bildungsroman is a novel with the main theme being the formative years or spiritual education of a person. (paraphrasing the Oxford English Dictionary)
